06/23/2013 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Oh, what a delight it is to be out with a guy like Chance! He is a distinguished gentleman who is an accomplished walker in the park as well as a master ballplayer who loves the game of catch and fetch. In the backyard, he runs and jumps and eagerly demonstrates his retrieving skills, dropping the ball promptly at my feet to continue play. And in between tosses, he stops by for quick little butt scratches that spark delightful wriggles. And he's disciplined with commands, as he "sits" on request even if it means an interruption in his play time. Having joined us because of landlord issues, his family had nothing but glowing remarks about Chance. We're told he is house-trained, friendly with children, strangers and other dogs, and knows several commands. And to quote the family, he is "quiet, loves kids, loves to play ball." With his wonderful manners and laid-back ways, no doubt that Chance was a well-loved member of the family who enjoyed many visits from the family's grandchildren; he's neutered too! So if you're looking for a companion who walks like a champ, minds his manners with other dogs and people at the park, and is ready to play ball at a moment's notice, look no further! Chance is a sure winner! A volunteer writes; Chance begs silently to go out.. His eyes are so eloquent, I can not resist. Chance lived with the same family all his life. His masters made a point to say that he was a great ball player and loved their very young grandkids. Beside being a fan of the ball, Chance would be well behaved, housetrained, seems friendly to all including other dogs and very calm. This family dog was well cared for, looks healthy and wears a spotless flame coat. Chance is indeed well mannered and walks beautifully on the leash. He does not mark his territory and appears to meet other dogs in a civil way. He eliminates in the curb and not on the side walk. He sits and stays on command, posing like a star for the pictures. In the yard, Chance becomes a puppy again. He loves to be petted and does come on the lap for smoochies. He loves to play ball and this calm gentleman flies in the air to catch the ball in mid air. He is really good at it.nChance I think could play for hours and hours. I enjoy my time with Chance. He is well mannered but playful too and quite loving and loveable. Will you take your chance with Chance. Please, do. He will brighten your life with his presence. Chance is at the Manhattan Care Center.

*** TO ADOPT THIS ANIMAL THROUGH THE PUBLIC ADOPTION SITE, PLEASE GO TO THE FOLLOWING LINK AND SCROLL DOWN TO BOTTOM TO LOG IN AND RESERVE THE ANIMAL. THERE WILL BE A $50 DEPOSIT REQUIRED.http://www.nycacc.org/PublicAtRisk.htm ***

For more information on adopting please read the following: http://urgentpetsondeathrow.org/must-read/

DO NOT call the shelter and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.

For more information on a particular dog, email adoption@nycacc.org but ONLY if serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go unnoticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions.
