DO NOT call the shelter and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.

For more information on a particular dog, email adoption@nycacc.org but ONLY if serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed. This is Branko's story, he is one years old & the sweetest lil soul ever, he has known no other life other than on the streets, he has seen many of his friends disappear - either they have died of cold or hunger or been poisoned, beaten & killed by locals if not caught by the 'dog catchers'.... A few Lucky ones have also been adopted - Whilst Branko desperately waits on the streets. Please share his story & help Branko Finally know what it means to be Loved & to have a home & forever family of his own He would make the perfect pet.
Branko was put in the kennels for a while after he was hit by a car, he was very lucky and got away with just scratches and bruises.. if you would like to help Branko stay in the kennels for bit longer or until he finds a home, he would so appreciate that very much.

This shelter is a publicly funded County shelter with a high rate of 'strays' and 'owner turn ins' and therefore considered "high kill". if you are interested in any dogs I have listed, I urge you to immediately get in touch with the shelter for their adoption procedure. I have seen it too many times where dog's have lost their lives because someone waited just ONE day too long...
